3 Ways HR Leaders Can Prepare for the Future We Want to Create

3 Ways HR Leaders

In shaping the future we aspire to create, Human Resources (HR) leaders play a significant role. As organizations navigate through dynamic shifts in technology, culture, and global landscapes, HR professionals are at the forefront of ensuring that businesses not only adapt but thrive in the face of change.

From encouraging a culture of innovation to championing diversity and inclusion, HR leaders are instrumental in sculpting workplaces that are not just responsive to the challenges of tomorrow, but actively shape them.

1. Make Chaos Clear

First, let’s change how we think. Instead of just using what we already have, let’s ask, “What do we really want to make?”

To see clearly ahead, we need a super clear picture of what we want to make and why it’s important. To do this, Abate says we need to say what our purpose is, what we value, and we also need to learn to say “no” when needed.

This means taking a step back and asking ourselves and our teams three big questions without worrying about the past:

● What do I want to make?

● What difference do I want to make?

● How do I want to live my life?

“When we think about how this fits into running companies and managing people,” Abate says, “think about how this can help with hiring, planning careers, helping people do well in your company, keeping them there, and keeping them interested.”

2. Be Brave, Not Afraid

When things change, it’s normal to feel scared.

One really important thing we can learn, says Abate, is how to say what we’re scared of, really understand it, and question why we’re scared. By challenging what we think we know about happiness, getting work done, and how happy people are at work, HR can really help the company do well.

3. Move from Being Alone to Being Together

When the pandemic made us all feel alone in a way we never had before, it made us realize how much we need other people. Now, as we use technology more to talk to each other from far away, we need to ask: How can we really connect using these strong tools?

Abate talks about the difference between just solving a problem and trying to find a solution. Solving a problem is mostly about thinking about yourself—Why is this happening to me?—but finding a solution is about moving forward.

“Connecting is about making a community.
